TREEO History

TREEO History

University of Florida has a long history of training water and wastewater operators beginning in the 1940’s with Dr. A. P. Black, whose name graces one of the engineering buildings on the UF campus.

UF TREEO expanded its course offerings as new environmental legislation was passed in the 1980s and 1990s to include Asbestos Abatement, Solid Waste, HAZWOPER, and RCRA training. Several years ago UF TREEO began providing assistance to utilities wishing to improve operations and costs by implementing an Environmental Management System.

Since 2005, UF TREEO has been the administrator for Florida Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (FLAWARN) that provides assistance to utilities during hurricanes and other emergencies.
