In the 2000 legislature session, Florida Statutes were amended to require engineers to complete eight hours of continuing education per renewal cycle. Four of those hours must be related to Florida's engineering laws and rules and four must relate to the licensee's area of practice. The continuing education rule for the Florida Board of Professional Engineers is now in effect and can be found on the FBPE Web site at http://www.fbpe.org/index.htm. The University of Florida TREEO Center is an approved FBPE continuing education provider. - Lead Abatement
U.S. EPA Florida Certificates of Accreditation and Certificates of Reaccrediation
UF/TREEO Center received EPA-accreditation to offer lead-based paint activities courses pursuant to 40 CFR Part 745, Subpart L (61 FR 45778, August 29, 1996) in Florida. The courses are only approved for purposes of certification under Section 402 of TSCA. If you do lead work in target housing or child-occupied facilities in Florida, you MUST be accredited by EPA Region 4.
UF/TREEO Center, at the completion/test passage of our initial lead abatement courses, issues a "Certificate of Course Completion." This certificate will serve as an interim certification for an individual for 6 months. Interim certification exists only for completion of initial courses, not the refresher courses.
For you to receive EPA's "Certification to Conduct Lead-Based Paint Activities," you must submit an "Application for Individuals to Conduct Lead-Based Paint Activities," to EPA, along with the appropriate fee, at the time you complete the UF/TREEO Center course. EPA will review your application and once approved, require you to sit for an EPA Certification Exam. After you successfully complete the exam, EPA will issue your certification.
