 BO-1  DeeDee Baggitt has been in the hospitality industry over 25 years, thirteen of those years with Rosen Hotels & Resorts working in Human Resources, and the past three years in her current position. DeeDee has managed the Green Program from the beginning and continues to work on Green Initiatives with each property. DeeDee is proud to say that Rosen Shingle Creek, Rosen Centre, and Rosen Plaza were in the top ten properties in the state to obtain their Second Palm. DeeDee has also worked with the Rosen College to assist in their Green Program and is looking forward to the Rosen Leisure Properties becoming certified this year under the Choice Green Room Program and FL Green Lodging.

Bob Baker is considered an authority on infection control, Heating Ventilation and Air-conditioning Systems (HVAC) maintenance and related indoor environmental issues. BBJ clients include building owners, their staffs and the service and product suppliers who serve them. He is past President of the Indoor Air Quality Association and a Fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) member of its Standards Committee and several technical committees as well as an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer. He has over 30 years of experience in all facets of building operation and maintenance and is a certified Operations and Performance Management Professional (OPMP). 
     Bob founded BBJ Environmental and has managed it since 1993. Before BBJ Environmental, Baker worked as an executive in both the public and private sector. Bob came to Florida from the University of Texas' prestigious M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where he served as Vice President for Administrative Services. Prior to that, he was an executive with Gulf Oil Corporation.
   An avid researcher, Bob holds both product and method patents in Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) system cleaning technology and in 2001 received the IAQA award for product technology. His current research interest is the impact of maintenance of HVAC systems on air quality, system life and energy efficiency.
 Bob lectures extensively on indoor air quality, consults with Contractors, Building Owners and others on their HVAC system maintenance and indoor air quality needs and was a contributing author on both the 1999 and 2003 ASHRAE Handbooks.
   Bob’s undergraduate degree is from Oklahoma State University with an MBA through the Gulf Oil program at Harvard University.

Dina M. Belon is a Principal and an owner of RUSH Hospitality, a sustainable hospitality renovation company, providing Design, Procurement and Construction services. Dina is a licensed Interior Designer in the state of Florida, and a LEED ID+C Accredited Professional. Dina is widely published and regularly speaks on the topic of sustainability. She is an active member of the US Green Building Council and sits on the Board of Adjustments and Appeals for the City of Titusville, Florida, where she lives; encouraging the local government to enact more ecologically friendly initiatives. Dina is also a member of the Space Coast Tourism Council Marketing Committee, where she encourages sustainable thinking within the tourism leaders in Brevard County. Additionally Dina is very involved in NEWH (The Hospitality Industry Network) chairing the Sunshine Chapters Sustainable Committee and a member of the International Sustainable Hospitality Committee, which helps educate the hospitality community on sustainability. Dina is also a member of the ARDA (American Resort Development Association) Construction and Design Committee and the Sustainability Task Force.

Wende Blumberg has truly embraced sustainability efforts at the various properties she has lead. Wende and the team at the Hilton University of Florida in March 2004, were the first of four properties to be honored with the Florida Green Lodging Certification.
        Wende brings more than 30 years experience in the hospitality industry in a combination of operations, sales and marketing experience. Within the past decade, she has served as General Manager of the four diamond property Hilton Atlanta Airport, the award winning Hilton University of Florida in Gainesville and most recently Mission Inn Resort, which just received their Green Lodging Certification. Wende currently services in an advisory and task-force bases for Benchmark Hospitality International which provide management and marketing services for resorts, conference centers, conference hotels and golf clubs.
      Recently Wende has volunteered to help as a founding member of the new American Green Lodging & Hospitality Association. She is passionate about getting team members, owners and those around her involved in making strides to improve our environment….person-by-person, one day at a time.

Chuck Engelhardt, Vice President of Global Technical Services, Architecture, Design and Construction for Hilton Hotels Corporation, is a 25-year veteran of the hotel industry. During his career, he has been involved in all facets of the hospitality industry including hotel operations, construction, real estate development and the “Green” building movement. In his current role he is responsible for Exterior Signage, Suppliers Corner, Architecture and Construction Brand Standards, F,F,&E. Procurement and Global Engineering Support. In his prior role with Hilton Hotels Corporation, as Vice President of Quality Assurance, he was responsible for monitoring the product quality of 3800 hotels worldwide and forging strategic alliances with environmentally responsible construction related vendors. Mr. Engelhardt is an active member of the U.S.G.B.C. and an appointed member of the A.H.L.A. Green task force. He resides on his 160-acre working farm in Lansing, Kansas.

Fenton has been Director of the University of Central Florida’s (UCF) Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) since January 2005, where he leads a staff of 140 in the research and development of energy technologies that enhance Florida's and the nation's economy and environment and educate the public, students and practitioners on the results of the research. FSEC, created in 1975 by the Florida Legislature to serve as the state’s energy research institute, is the nation’s largest and most active state-supported renewable energy and energy efficiency research institute. In addition to his duties as FSEC Director, he leads a 12-member university and industry research team in a $19 million U.S. Department of Energy research program to develop the next generation proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell automobile engine. Dr. Fenton also serves as a Professor in UCF’s Mechanical, Materials and Aerospace Engineering Department.
   Prior to joining FSEC, he spent 20 years as a Chemical Engineering Professor at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Fenton’s research activities in fuel cells, pollution prevention and sustainable energy are helping FSEC expand its nationally acclaimed research and education programs in hydrogen, alternative fuels, solar energy and buildings energy efficiency. He received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1984 and his B.S. from UCLA in 1979. He is the author of more than 120 scientific publications and a number of book chapters and holds three patents. He was recently elected as Fellow of The Electrochemical Society and Governor Crist appointed him as a member of the Florida Governor’s Action on Energy and Climate Change.

Peter Goren is currently President and Managing Director of the American Green Lodging and Hospitality Association. As co-founder and former Director of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Lodging Program, Mr. Goren has overseen tremendous growth in this ground breaking initiative which began with the participation of just 4 hotels in 2004, growing to over 950 hotels in July of 2009. 
Mr. Goren is a regular speaker at various meetings and conferences dealing with “greening” the hospitality industry and other facilities that accommodate guests and residents, meeting planning, and sustainable initiatives in general. In addition to his work to establish and develop the American Green Lodging and Hospitality Association, he promotes cost effective ways to reduce utility bills while protecting both human health and safety, and the environment. Mr. Goren also recommends extreme diligence when considering the procurement of “green” goods and services available to facilities looking to become more sustainable.
With over 30 years of experience and leadership in environmental and natural resource protection in both the public and private sectors, Mr. Goren has demonstrated an expertise in devising pragmatic solutions to complex issues, and has proven his ability to target and achieve ambitious goals.
Mr. Goren is a proud graduate of the University of Florida, where he received both a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a Certificate of Environmental Studies.

Mike Hess, a successful entrepreneur, is a co-founder and CEO of Mariah Power. Mike has spent the past 15 years bringing new technologies into the market with experience ranging from hardware platforms to software, developing the first digital pager, the first MPEG2 encoding system for DirecTV, and component level, optical component technologies. Mike has cofounded three companies and has also served as vice president of finance and vice president of operations for companies including etNetworks, a business education broadcasting company; Raychem, which creates products based on material science technology; Spectra Physics, specializing in semiconductor-based laser and optical technologies; Measurex, which develops computer control systems for industry, and Meta Systems, creators of the first digital pager.
 
Under Mike’s leadership, Mariah Power has been the recipient the 2008 Nevada Governor’s Industry Appreciation Award and Popular Science’s Best of What’s New Award in the green category. Mike was also recently named a 2008 Reno Journal Gazette  Entrepreneur of the Year.
 
Mike currently resides in Lake Tahoe with his wife. When he is not travelling across the globe to speak about Mariah Power, he likes to play poker, snow shoe with his wife, and enjoy a picnic on his boat on Lake Tahoe.

She is on the board of the Florida Section American Water Resources Association, Florida Section American Water Works Association Region XI leadership team, a founding board member of the Florida/Caribbean Green Meeting Industry Council, a member of Society of Government Meeting Professionals and Florida Water Environment Association. Ray Hobbs began his career as a bellboy at a 92 room Holiday Inn in Florence, South Carolina back in the summer of 1967, and he continues to enjoy his 40 plus year career in the Hospitality Industry. Over these 40 years, Ray has realized continuing career growth while serving in both management and executive ranks of Hospitality Industry organizations. Today, Ray’s “passion” is sharing the GREEN message, and assisting in the creation of a more environmentally friendly, sustainable, and profitable future for the Hospitality Industry. 
     Ray currently serves as Senior Vice President for Kelco Management & Development, a privately owned hotel development company based in Jacksonville, Florida. Ray oversees and directs the operations of the company’s owned and managed hotels. Under Ray’s direction, and with the support of Kelco’s ownership, each of Kelco’s Florida hotels is now a certified “Single Palm” participant in the Florida Green Lodging Program. Kelco has adopted GREEN operating practices in all of their hotels. Ray & Kelco are presently assisting the ownership of the new Four Points by Sheraton – Downtown in Durham, NC in their efforts to become a LEED GOLD certified hotel.
     Prior to his current role at Kelco, Mr. Hobbs served as President & Chief Operating Officer at Divi Resorts, a well-known Caribbean resort company. Divi Resorts operated two dive resorts, seven timeshare resorts and two all-inclusive resorts on six Caribbean islands. During his tenure at Divi Resorts, Mr. Hobbs developed, implemented and directed conservation strategies and various green practices in all of the Divi Resorts. Divi Team members became enthusiastically engaged in GREEN actions to support both environmentally friendly operations and improved profitability for the company. 
     Also an experienced Hospitality Industry Consultant, and President of the Atlantis Hospitality Group of Consultants, Ray is assisting hotel developers and owners in identifying and implementing GREEN practices in their portfolios of existing hotels. These GREEN practices provide improvements in operating cost efficiencies while being environmentally correct. Ray has presented programs and served on numerous panels addressing GREEN HOTEL practices.
     Ray is an accredited LEED GREEN ASSOCIATE, a licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker and a certified EcoBroker. Atlantis Hospitality Group is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and Ray is a charter member of the Atlanta Chapter of the Green Meetings Industry Council. Ray presently serves on the Board of Directors for WIDECAST, the Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation Program, and he is a Member of the Board of Advisors for EcoRooms & EcoSuites.

David Michael Jerome is the Senior Vice President for Corporate Responsibility at InterContinental Hotels Group based in the United Kingdom. IHG leads the industry in environmental innovation with its guide to sustainable hotel building, construction and operations. IHG is also leading in community investment and local economic development, with over 4200 hotels globally.
      Before joining IHG in 2006, David led Corporate Affairs for AB InBev, the world’s largest brewer. Prior to AB InBev, David worked for General Motors in a variety of staff and operational roles. He was head of GM Korea before assuming responsibility for GM’s global reputation and corporate responsibility activities. David practiced law in Washington, D.C. before joining GM.

Founder and President of Trifecta Construction Solutions, Dr. Jennifer Languell is a nationally recognized leader in educating the development and construction industries, as well as homebuyers, about the benefits of green building and sustainable development. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, a Master’s in Civil Engineering and Construction Management, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Sustainable Construction.
For over a decade, Dr. Languell has been one of the country’s preeminent consultants in the creation of healthy, efficient and sustainable projects such as single-family residential homes, commercial and multi-family residential construction, land development and green building education and demonstration centers. She conducts approximately 100 educational trainings, seminars and workshops annually for the building and development industries. As a renowned authority on green building, she regularly appears as a speaker at national and international industry conferences.
In 2009 Dr. Languell was awarded the Governor’s Points of Light Award and she won the Urban Land Institute of Southwest Florida’s prestigious Pathfinder Award, symbolic of vision and leadership in sustainability. In 2007, Trifecta received the Small Business Award from the Council for Sustainable Florida, and in 2006 Dr. Languell was named the National Association of Home Builders’ Green Advocate of the Year and also won the Council for Sustainable Florida Leadership Award. Languell is an award-winning author, and has been featured in numerous publications and television programs including: BusinessWeek, CNN Headline News, HGTV, and CNBC’s “Bullseye.” She also stars in the Discovery Channel’s environmental series Discovery Project Earth, and also serves on the National Governors Association Policy Academy on Advanced Energy Strategies for Buildings. Since founding Trifecta, Dr. Languell has consulted with nearly 150 different businesses and organizations on the subject of green building and sustainability. During this period she has also certified approximately two-thirds of the green homes in the state of Florida using the existing Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) Green Home Certification Standards. In addition, she has worked on more than 250,000 square feet of ongoing U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and FGBC commercial projects, and

BO-10  Karen Moore graduated from Mercer University where she received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Engineering. Karen’s previous job experience included working as an engineer for a consultant firm where she performed groundwater monitoring services for county and private landfills in Georgia and assisted in the design of landfills. Karen also worked as an Environmental Coordinator for Gaston County Public Works in North Carolina. Her job duties included coordination and management of the county’s recycling program, Commercial/Industrial recycling program, household hazardous waste program, alternative fuel program, environmental education program, and underground storage tank program. Karen is currently the Vice President of American Green Lodging and Hospitality Association.

Harris Rosen is the President & COO of Rosen Hotels & Resorts, the largest independently owned hotel chain in Florida.
     After spending the early years of his career working for other major hotel groups, including Walt Disney World, Rosen purchased his first hotel in 1974. Since then, he has added six hotels to his portfolio, for a total of four leisure hotels and three convention properties. Combined, Rosen Hotels & Resorts comprise 6,300 rooms and more than six percent of Orlando’s total hotel inventory.
    Rosen is a charter member of the UCF Board of Trustees. In 2000 he donated a 20-acre site and approximately $10 million to the University of Central Florida to build the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. He also provided a $2 million scholarship endowment for UCF, which has been matched by the state. 
   As well as Rosen’s commitment to UCF, he spearheaded the multi-million dollar Tangelo Park Pilot Program, which has provided 350 high school seniors with full college scholarships over the last 17 years. Rosen is also a member of the Cornell Society of Hotelmen, and the Waldorf Astoria Distinguished Alumni Association and is the past President of the Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau. He currently serves on the board of directors of the YMCA Aquatic Center.   Rosen has received many awards recognizing his community contributions, including most recently Sustainable Florida’s Legacy Award for his contributions not only for his environmental efforts, but for his contributions to the local community. 
 
Rosen is married to Trish and they and their four children, Jack (18), Joshua (17), Adam (16) and Shayna (14) live in Orlando, Florida.

Heidi Siegelbaum is a professional mutt, having worked on farms, in hotels and restaurants, attended cooking school at L'Academie de Cuisine and is a chowhound. She found her love of environmental policy and practice at EPA where she used to practice law in their industrial chemicals and biotechnology program. Heidi has worked on sustainable tourism strategies, environmental program development and science translation since 1996 and is a principal with Calyx Sustainable Tourism in Seattle.
   The company is a founding member of the emerging PURE Travel Collaborative in Washington State which will be the first sustainable tourism membership organization locally.

Stipanuk, Professor Emeritus, taught at the School of Hotel Administration from 1983 to 2008.   His teaching responsibilities included courses in sustainable development, facilities management, hospitality risk management and hotel development and construction. He also published articles on environmental issues for the lodging industry and on workplace safety benchmarking for travel and tourism. Most recently, he helped to prepare the AH Energy Management and Conservation Guide. He is a member of ASHRAE and the Executive Engineers and Environmental Officers Committee of the AH.  Stipanuk the authored/co-authored the following texts: Managing Hospitality Engineering Systems, Hospitality Facilities Management and Design, 3rd edition and Security and Loss Prevention Management, 2nd edition.
