The Conference provides an opportunity for practical training and information exchange by national experts. It also allows trainers to share their knowledge and experience in facilitating across state and regional boundaries. This conference also offers a forum for state and regional coordinators and training centers to network and receive information regarding the effective operations management and evaluation assistance for the hundreds of municipalities and Tribes which are helped each year under the 104g program.
The goal of Section 104g1 of the Clean Water Act program is to provide environmental improvement and protection to the nation's waters by getting the best performance from the wastewater treatment facilities at the most reasonable expense possible. This conference is held to provide support to those that offer training assistance to publicly owned wastewater treatment plants partially supported by an annual Grant from the EPA under in order to enhance the effectiveness of onsite assistance.
Although the focus of the Clean Water Act funded assistance efforts is targeted at municipal wastewater treatment facilities less than 5 MGD, the emphasis on practical approaches to problems and the presence of the many national experts and experienced trainers is an excellent opportunity for wastewater treatment operators of any size facility to address problems at their facilities and seek answers to situations that may not be covered by standard reference materials.
