Description

Using the Internet, students will become familiar with OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard 29 CFR 1910.120 that requires employers to develop a written hazard communication program for their employees, and to inform and train employees regarding the correct way to use cleaning products. This course provides an overview of the standard, materials safety data sheets (MSDS), collection and retention, proper storage procedures, labeling and placarding systems, employee training and documentation.

About the Course:

The course consists of online text, exercises, self-grading quizzes and final exam (MUST be proctored; is NOT open book). The course is offered through selected member colleges of the Community College Consortium for Health and Safety Training (CCCHST) and is authored and sponsored by the Hazardous Materials Training and Research Institute (HMTRI).

Requirements for Online Courses:

  • You should be computer literate and familiar with PC-based systems to participate in the online courses.
  • Prepayment is required before you will receive log-in information, including address and password.
  • You must provide an email address at time of registration/payment.
  • Courses must be completed within six months from date of registration. Certificate will be issued on the date you pass the final exam.
  • You must complete the coursework before taking the hands-on portion of the course.

  • Pentium computer or comparable
  • Speakers and soundcard
  • Internet Connection – 28.8 minimum
  • Web browser – Netscape Navigator 4.0 or newer or Internet Explorer 4.0 or newer
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or higher (Download free from WebCT site.)
