This one-day course teaches the new revised Quality Assurance Rules (Chapter 62-160, FAC) basic concepts and techniques for scientifically valid field sampling, as outlined in DEP's Standard Operating Procedures. Planning, documentation, quality control, equipment considerations, and actual sampling procedures for surface water, wastewater, and groundwater are covered. The course involves lecture and actual hands-on segments. The class is taught by DEP Standards and Assessment Section Staff.
The revised Quality Assurance Rule (62-160 FAC) and associated field sampling SOPs (adopted by reference in the Rule) became effective officially on December 3, 2008. The final revised SOPs are available at:
http://www.dep.state.fl.us/labs/qa/index.htm
Field sampling entities are required to use these DEP SOPs, unless otherwise specified by DEP in a permit, rule, order or contract. A link to the revised version of Chapter 62-160, F.A.C. is also provided at the above link.
