Stormwater Design and Permitting: An Introduction in Using Computers to Solve Stormwater Problems

Attributes
  • CEU's: .7
  • FBPE PDHs 0004040: 7.0
  • Solid Waste I II III (PEs, EI, PG only): 7.0
  • Time: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Coordinator Stephanie West, (352) 392-9570 x216
Description

In this course, you learn how to use computer spreadsheet models to solve stormwater problems. Emphasis is on the permitting requirements of the Florida Water Management Districts and the Florida Department of Transportation. Hands-on computer course, free software included.

Daily morning and afternoon breaks are scheduled. You are on your own for lunch.

Participant must be present for entire class time to receive CEUs and a Certificate of Attendance.

About the Course

Instructors guide you through several hands-on computer-lab sessions to help you learn the following:

  • Determining time of concentration using the Kinematic Wave Equation
  • Hydrograph generation using the Soil Conservation Service Method and the Modified Rational Method
  • Flood routing and retention detention pond sizing using the Storage-Indication Flood Routing Method
  • Wet detention system design
  • Sidedrain and underdrain sizing
  • Sizing of storm sewers, culverts and open channels.

You Will Receive

You will receive a copy of several spreadsheet developed programs and a course manual explaining the application and use of each program.
