This course explains the principles of the activated sludge process and the factors that influence and control the process. The operator learns to inspect a new activated sludge facility for proper installation, place it in service and schedule and conduct operation and maintenance duties. The operator trains how to collect samples, interpret lab results and make appropriate adjustments in the treatment process. The operator learns to recognize factors that indicate an activated sludge process is not performing properly, identify the source of the problem and take corrective action. The course assist s the operator in determining aerator loadings and understanding the application of different loading guidelines.
