About the Course

Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBRs) are one of the fastest growing trends in the wastewater industry today. This workshop is designed to inform and educate the student on the history, design, equipment and operational concepts of SBR treatment technology. Subjects such as advantages and disadvantages as well as monitoring tests to control the SBR batch process are discussed. 

This class is intended to aid the operator of an SBR wastewater facility in improving the operation of the plant through process control testing and monitoring. Knowing what tests, when and where to collect the process control samples is half the battle in SBR operation and incorrect sampling and analysis could be detrimental to overall operation. Valuable information regarding process control testing, data interpretation, process adjustment and data trending is given to the participant of this class. General guides on SBR batch process time-lines are given, as well as process troubleshooting and discussion of real world experiences. 

Students should have a working knowledge of the activated sludge treatment process before taking this course.

Daily breaks are provided. You are on your own for lunch.

You must be present for entire course time to receive continuing education credit and a Certificate of Attendance.

 Instructor

Ron Trygar, CET-Ron has recently joined the UF TREEO Center staff as our Senior Training Specialist for Water and Wastewater. He has worked in the wastewater industry for twenty five years in a variety of locations and jobs. In 1998 Ron became a Certified Environmental Trainer (CET) and has since provided training for associations and regulatory agencies such as FDEP; UF-TREEO Center; FW&PCOA Short Schools; USABlueBook; FWEA sponsored training events and local school environmental programs. He has also assisted the U.S. EPA in providing flow measurement training in Tallahassee, and along with the FDEP Northeast District, he helped begin the FRWA/FDEP joint operator certification review classes that are still given around the state today.  Ron holds a Florida class A wastewater treatment operator’s license and a Florida class C drinking water operator’s license.
