Description

This is an initial four-day course for Class I and II Asbestos Workers for all removal activities in compliance with EPA and OSHA requirements. The course has been granted full approval by the EPA and the State of Florida to meet AHERA/ASHARA requirements for Class I and II Asbestos Workers performing work in K-12 schools and public and commercial buildings. The course is required for all personnel to conduct gross removal of asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM). Worker accreditation is required on projects where the ACBM that is to be removed exceeds the limits of small-scale, short-duration projects, or where states require worker certification.

Asbestos abatement worker training includes classroom lectures and discussions, demonstrations, extensive hands-on worker training, respiratory fit-testing and a written examination.
 
In Florida, Asbestos Workers must work under the direction of a Licensed Asbestos Contractor.
 
This course is offered once a year at UF/TREEO then it is available on-site by UF/TREEO Certified Asbestos Worker Trainers.
 
This course is available at UF/TREEO, in Gainesville, FL, or on-site.
 
 
Course Objective
The student, pending successful completion of the course, including the exam will receive a Certificate of Accreditation as an Asbestos Worker under TSCA Title II/ AHERA. In addition, the student should be able to list the training requirements for a Class I worker under 1926.1101.
Please Note: You must be in attendance for entire course to receive continuing education credit and a Certificate of Accreditation.
An annual refresher course is required.
