Description

This one-day course discusses recent developments regarding regulations, research and technology that may affect lead-based paint inspectors and is based on the most current EPA Model Curriculum. The course reviews the curriculum topics of the initial course, as well as specific information pertaining to this discipline.

As required by EPA, the course includes:
  • An overview of the current safety practices relating to lead-based paint activities in general, as well as specific information pertaining to this discipline.
  • Current laws and regulations relating to lead-based paint activities in general, as well as specific information pertaining to this discipline.
  • Current technologies relating to lead-based paint activities in general, as well as specific information relating this discipline.
Please Note:  If you hold an EPA Certificate for just the Lead Risk Assessor then you do not need to take this course since the Lead Inspector topics will be covered under Lead Refresher: Risk Assessment.)   However, if you hold both an EPA Certificate for Lead: Inspector and Lead: Risk Assessor then you must take both refresher courses.
Prerequisites: US-EPA Region 4 requires documentation of your Florida approved initial EPA-approved training course accreditation certificate and any refresher re-accreditation certificates.
US-EPA requires refreshers every 3 years.
Daily breaks provided. You are on your own for lunch. 
 
Course Objective
Upon successful completion of the course, including exam, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.

You must be in attendance for entire course to receive continuing education credit and a Certificate of Completion.
 
 
Who Should Attend
This course is for lead inspectors who perform work in the state of Florida in target housing or child-occupied facilities to must receive their re-accreditation certificate every three years.

Certification and Accreditation
UF/TREEO Center has received EPA-accreditation to offer lead-based paint activities courses pursuant to 40 CRF Part 745, Subpart L (61 FR 45778, August 29, 1996). This course is only approved for purposes of certification under Section 402 of TSCA.

EPA's lead training and certification rules went into effect on March 1, 2000 in Florida. If you do lead work in target housing or child-occupied facilities, you must be accredited by EPA Region 4.
