Environmental Management Systems: Assisting Wastewater and Drinking Water Facilities Achieve Environmental Excellence
EMS Case Studies in the Public Water Sector
An Environmental Management System Compendium for Wastewater Utility Managers
Until recently, Environmental Management Systems (EMS) have been used extensively in private industry, but are now being adopted by a growing number of local governments. Environmental management systems provide organizations with a structured process for meeting environmental goals by identifying and reducing a broad range of environmental impacts from their operations.
The University of Florida TREEO Center (UF TREEO) would like to share important information regarding EMS case studies in the public water sector. UF TREEO Center has been selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Water to become one of eight Environmental Management System Local Resource Centers nationwide. (See page 72).
UF TREEO provided technical assistance in the Oakland County, Michigan Drain Commissioner's office. (See pages 11 and 49)
