Dr. Engel is the director of the University of Florida TREEO Center and an affiliate faculty member of the University of Florida’s School of Natural Resources and the Environment. He is currently teaching a series of ISO 14000 environmental management systems courses (overview and implementation) at UF/TREEO.

Dr. Engel managed environmental training centers in Maryland and South Carolina as well as directing academic degree programs. He is a Certified Environmental Trainer, past president of the National Environmental Training Association, a licensed wastewater treatment plant operator, and, former executive director of the Southeast Partnership for Environmental Technology Education (SE PETE).

Dr. Engel holds a doctorate in chemistry/environmental systems management from The American University, Washington, D.C.
