The 1988 Solid Waste Management Act mandated training for all solid waste landfill operators.
In 1989, Rule 62-703, Training Operators of Solid Waste Management Facilities, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.),
was adopted by the Florida Deparment of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in response to requirements in the 1988 Act.
The new rule 62-701 assures the continued development of the Solid Waste Management Facility Operator training program for all solid waste operators in Florida.
